Super Hero Classic is a run-and-jump classic game that is based on NES games originally released as a coin-operated arcade game in 1988.

A year following the intense battle with the Red Falcon Organization, our heroic warrior embarks on a new mission. This time, alien forces have seized control of an allied military base, subjugating most of its troops. The super warrior, equipped as a formidable shooter, must confront not only their former comrades but also face the challenge of combating a new mutated form of the alien creatures encountered in their previous mission.

The game retains the side-scrolling format from its predecessor, eliminating pseudo-3D and fixed screen segments. Instead, Super Hero Classic offers vertically-scrolling stages played from an overhead perspective, allowing players to move in eight directions using digital controls. The gameplay mechanics largely mimic those of the side-scrolling segments, with the novel addition being the ability to adjust the jump height by manipulating the joystick vertically while initiating a jump.

Throughout each stage, players have the option to upgrade their default weapon by acquiring one of four possible weapons found within flying item capsules. Available armaments include a machine gun, bombs, and laser weapons. Notably, weapons can be further enhanced by collecting the same power-up consecutively, enhancing their destructive capabilities. In this iteration, power-ups are represented by the wielded weaponry rather than Falcon-themed icons as seen in the prior game. During overhead stages, players can also seize a "hyper shell" item that obliterates all on-screen foes when activated by pressing the jump button. Players can fire the hyper shell at any time during these stages and may stockpile more than one at once.
